I’m On YouTube!

My YouTube channel isn’t about me and my adventures, it’s about you and yours. I want to help you get better at backpacking while creating a reliable and stable outdoor lifestyle. The goal is to share what I’ve learned, offer a unique perspective, encourage people to get out there, and create a community where people help one another.

I really enjoy the process of creating videos and YouTube has afforded me a place to push my own personal and creative boundaries.

No More Fleece!

Fleece has been the worst thing I’ve worn in the backcountry but it took me a long time to figure that out because it was all I had known. I was always heating up or cooling down too fast and it made for a very sweaty and cold experience.

I’ve since learned that my body doesn’t pair well with synthetics so here’s a video detailing my thoughts on fleece and what I now use instead.

8 Things I’d Do Differently on the PCT

It’s always good to reflect back on our life experiences so here are 8 things I’d do a bit differently if I were to hike the PCT again. Hopefully, you can take a few of these and implement them into your own approach to the outdoors. The more you can learn from others, the better you’ll become at your own activities.

Solo Backpacking Tips

After many failed attempts and restless nights wondering what the heck I was doing out there by myself, I’ve learned a few things about backpacking alone that I want to pass along. It literally took me years to figure this out so my hope is you can take these tips and apply them to your own trips.

It can be uncomfortable at first, but once you break through to the other side and gain the confidence (and comfort) you need for solo trips, an entirely new world opens up to you. No more having to rely on flaky friends for your backcountry adventures!

The MOST Overlooked Piece of Backpacking Gear

A quick video covering what I believe to be the most overlooked and unappreciated piece of backpacking gear. I guarantee you’ve never thought about this before, but it could have a massive impact on your comfort on the trail.

Quitting Backpacking Quilts (they’re overrated)

Quilts are beloved by a lot of people, but I’m not a fan for a number of reasons. They’re drafty, inefficient, and annoying to use if you actually need to reduce drafts to stay warm.

After trying to fall in love with quilts, I’ve realized they’re not worth it so I’m sticking with a bag.

How To Backpack MORE each year and every year

I used to look back at the summer and beat myself up about all the things I didn’t do. I’d go into each summer telling myself I was going to get more adventures in but it never happened until I began setting myself up for success.

In this video, I offer some advice on what you can do to structure your summer and adventures so you can get into the backcountry more.
